Enugu Police break robbery, car snatching syndicate, kill one

The police in Enugu have gunned down a notorious armed robbery and car snatching suspect in Ikirike Layout, Enugu.

A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Enugu State Police Command, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, stated that the suspect was gunned down on Wednesday during a gun battle with the police.
Amaraizu added, “The police gunned down one of the hoodlums following a distress call when they were about snatching a black Nissan Xterra car with number plate GG 620 AG, at gun point.
“Policemen at Ikirike Division trailed the hoodlums and engaged them in a fire battle.
“They were overpowered when one of their gang members was gunned down. His corpse has been deposited at the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Ituku/Ozalla.”
The PPRO said some members of the gang fled with bullet wounds and appealed to the public for information on anyone found with bullet wounds.
According to the statement, some of the items recovered from the gang are one English made single barrelled gun, a locally made pistol and the said car.

In another development, the police division in Nsukka Division also nabbed a 25-year-old man from Alor-Uno for being in possession of a locally made revolver pistol.
It alleged the suspect used the pistol for armed robbery and cultism in Nsukka.
