Mallam Ashiru was arrested by the police few days ago for
allegedly parading himself as a king in the town but efforts by his
lawyers to secure his bail at high court-3 failed due to absence of the
presiding judge in the case.
This, according to Po
sitive FM made some indigenes and elders from Arigidi at the court premises to stage a protest accusing the judiciary of persecuting their monarch.
One of the protesters, Mr Tafa Otata called the Ondo state government and the state chief Judge to intervene in the case to prevent breach of peaceful coexistence at Arigidi-Akoko.
In an interview, counsel to the Oba-aja, Mr Bayo Olorunmeke described the arrest and remand of his client as unlawful because the case was already at the Appeal court and the state high court had no power to sit on the suit again.
